OpenCTI Talk at Queen City Con 0x01 (2023)
On November 17-19 2023, I had the pleasure of attending as well as presenting at Queen City Con here in Downtown Cincinnati. The conference was great, and the organizing team pulled off a successful effort. As a Cincinnatian, and former organizer at BSidesCincinnati, I was gratified to see a local group pick up this effort and deliver.
The Conference
Much inspiration for the conference came from a desire to fill a void in this part of the country due to the conclusions of both DerbyCon in Louisville and CircleCityCon in Indianapolis. The organizers were very open about this ambition, and gave enormous credit to these “neighborhood” conferences that came before. These are some big shoes to fill, and I am hopeful that the legacy can be kept alive for years to come, here.
The conference itself was organized into multiple tracks (4), and hosted a number of villages that included a CTF, lock picking village, career village, and others. The talks were great, all well put together, and showcased a wide array of well-known as well as upcoming local talent. The conference appears to have a lot of support, judging by the sponsors, which helps give me increased confidence for its future.
The Venue
QueenCityCon was held at the Hyatt Regency downtown, which is in the heart of the city’s convention center district, a short walk to some of the best food in the region, as well as our city’s fountain square. The venue had talks/activities spread across multiple floors, yielding a similar layout as that which DerbyCon had.
OpenCTI Talk
I gave a talk on OpenCTI on Saturday afternoon (Nov 18) which consisted of a broad overview of the CTI platform. It was intended to be an overview discussing features and usage for any team evaluating CTI platforms. Below is a link to my slides:
Unfortunately, there were no recordings this year, but hopefully in future years recordings and/or streaming can be achieved.
